Hollywood actress Emily Blunt is among some of the most celebrated and respected actresses in the industry. However, she doesn’t have the same opinion as others when it comes to a project featuring a script that initiates with a “strong female lead.”

Emily Blunt is Against Strong Female Lead Label
Over the past decade, the film industry has increasingly emphasized the importance of strong female leads to address gender equality issues in Hollywood. However, it has often been misinterpreted on-screen, with such characters displaying qualities that are typically associated with a male strong lead.
The British actress Emily Blunt also shared her disdain for such characters and projects during an interview with The Telegraph. The Sicario actress said that she is “bored” with the concept and immediately turns it down whenever she encounters such a script. Blunt said,
“It’s the worst thing ever when you open a script and read the words: ‘strong female lead’. That makes me roll my eyes – I’m already out. I’m bored.”
The Jungle Cruise actress also shared that the “incredibly stoic” portrayal of these characters in movies is the reason why she is hesitant to support such projects. “You spend the whole time acting tough and saying tough things,” she said regarding the stereotypical idea of a strong female lead in Hollywood.
