During an appearance on David Letterman’s late-night talk show, Emily Blunt shared how she saved Meryl Streep’s life while filming Into the Woods. She shared that while rehearsing one of the scenes, the 74-year-old actress tripped from the table after her foot got caught in her cape.

She stated that while the film’s director, Rob Marshall, and her co-star, James Corden, watched in horror, Blunt came to her rescue. “The pregnant woman caught her,” she shared, referring to herself, as she was pregnant while filming the movie.

The actress shared that her co-star could have been seriously injured. Stating that she owes her, Blunt suggested changing their on-screen dynamic, where she would be the Queen of Versailles and Streep would be her “lowly dressmaker.”
