The Marvel Cinematic Universe is well into its Phase 5, and despite a few bumps, it remains one of the biggest superhero franchises ever. That’s the same reason why fan speculations about several movies are still ripe to this day, even from movies several years old like Avengers: Infinity War and Eternals.

A new theory supposedly connects these two movies, where a disaster in one scenario served as a benefit to the other. And Doctor Strange might have viewed it all.

Though the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy put up a good fight against the Mad Titan, particularly Doctor Strange, they ultimately succumb to his might. Strange scans through a total of 14,000,605 possibilities, and finds only one of them succeeding.

And the only way, according to Strange, was by giving Thanos the Time Stone, which makes him powerful enough to easily retrieve the Mind Stone from Vision. One fan theory suggests he had also viewed the events of Eternals in one or more of these possibilities.

The Celestials are much more powerful than Thanos, and as we found out in Eternals, once the Earth’s population reaches a certain level, Tiamut, the Celestial resting inside the planet, would awaken in an event called the Emergence. Thanos snapping away half of its population delayed the Emergence, and hence bought Earth some time.

Doctor Strange might’ve also foreseen the Eternals having a change of heart, particularly Ajax, their former leader, into going against their makers. This eventually builds up to the climax where Sersi ultimately prevents Tiamut from waking up.

Will the Eternals ever come back to the MCU?

The Eternals storyline has been largely sidelined in the MCU. Many wondered if Kevin Feige had completely forgotten about the immortal superheroes. However, the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World has given hope to fans.

In the film’s ending, the team thwarted Tiamut’s emergence, which could have obliterated Earth. The colossal remains of Tiamut protruding from the ocean should have attracted more attention from the MCU’s other heroes. Yet, this detail was overlooked by the studio until recently. The latest teaser for Captain America: Brave New World provided fans with a view of Tiamut’s remains as Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson soared past what seemed to be a mountain rising from the sea.

In the film Eternals, the United Nations is depicted as convening an emergency meeting to address the events that transpired. Additionally, She-Hulk featured an Easter Egg referencing the remnants of Tiamut. The show featured an online article that raised questions about the emergence of a statue resembling a man in the ocean.
