A new trailer has just dropped for an upcoming game from Indie developer Maschinen-Mensch called Mother Machine. Mother Machine is a big leap from other titles made by the developer, as some members of its staff have worked on games like Borderlands and Dead Island in the past, but this new title might just take the cake.

In a post-apocalyptic setting, players will be able to take control of some rather interesting and chaotic creatures as they search for resources, technology, and even an answer to why the world ended up the way it has.

From what we can see in the trailer, Mother Machine is a game that can either be played solo or with up to 3 other players in 4-player co-op, whether they are people you know or people you meet in the game’s lively hub world.

This provides the game with plenty of options, as players have the choice to take on this dark and dangerous world alone or with the company of others who could make the journey that little bit more fun.

Throughout Mother Machine, players will be tasked with taking on missions that can range from getting to certain locations, finding special resources, or even fighting unique enemies. But do not worry; these little creatures can handle it.

In this world, Mother Machine has gone haywire and begun to create what can only be described as “Chaos Gremlins,” which can be used to navigate this dangerous land, but with a few perks of their own.

Due to the way they are created, these Chaos Gremlins are able to take on mutations that can provide them with special abilities, such as spike arms that can throw needles, sticky arms that make surfaces easier to climb, and even a healing fart that looks as funny as it sounds, with so many more to find.

These abilities make working together fun while also providing new opportunities for players to take advantage of, as they are able to combine these abilities to climb difficult terrain, take out enemies at range, or just gas on your friends for a laugh.

Being a Nosey Creature and Exploring Can Both Be Fun and Beneficial

Speaking of new opportunities, once players obtain these new mutations, the options are endless, as they are able to explore the procedurally generated locations within Mother Machine to their hearts’ content.

Each location is just as unique as the last as there are plenty of biomes to explore, each with their own mutations that players can discover and use to their advantage.

The mutations aren’t the only alluring thing out in the caves, as there are also crystals players can find which will provide them benefits like extra health, extra stamina, and even checkpoints.

Along with interesting places to explore, there are even special creatures and traversals like the “Gentle Giant” which can be used to climb into new locations or even floating balloons which you can use to glide high up the levels into new and exciting places.

Exploration is also beneficial in the long run for players who are looking to customise their Chaos Gremlin, as completing levels with a higher score by exploring could lead to more experience and more customisation options that could change how your Chaos Gremlin looks and what emotes it can perform.

Mother Machine unfortunately doesn’t have a set release window yet, but the trailer has detailed a 2025 release year and that the game will be coming to PC and consoles.
