Back in 2011, Bradley Cooper was cast as Lucifer aka Satan by Alex Proyas. Proyas is an Australian filmmaker best known for The Crow (1994). Proyas and Cooper were working together for an action-oriented adaptation of the 17th-century epic poem Paradise Lost by John Milton.

Many consider the poem to be one of the greatest of all time. It tackles grand themes through the lens of the biblical story of Adam and Eve. The once-angelic being, Satan, has waged rebellion against God, and after a defeat, is cast down to the fiery pits of Hell. Burning with a vengeance, Satan plots his revenge against God’s newest creation, humanity.

In the Garden of Eden, amidst vibrant Flora and Fauna dwell Adam and Eve. Their existence is threatened by the arrival of Satan. John Milton writes down the fall of man and the temptation that forever altered the course of human history. While the biblical story has been around for so long, Milton’s version has sparked many discussions.

Some interpretations even view Satan as a rebellious hero, the character Cooper was cast for in Proyas’ project. However, in 2012, the movie was scrapped altogether as its proposed budget was more than $120 Million, which was too big for Legendary Pictures, as per Deadline. However, one should Never Say Never in the film industry.

The backlash to Maestro has many wondering what’s next for Bradley Cooper. The use of a prosthetic nose didn’t sit quite well with a large majority of fans. Thus, a comeback project for Cooper is what fans want at this time. A project like Paradise Lost that taps into his ability to portray darker characters could definitely be the answer to the current situation.

Industry insider Jeff Sneider recently shared some prospective projects for Dennis Villeneuve. The world is all praise for the Canadian director after his work in Dune: Part Two. Sneider believes that Villeneuve might do a great job if Paradise Lost is adapted to screens.

He believes that “Villeneuve could be just the guy to resurrect that project, which would’ve starred Bradley Cooper as Lucifer.” Further, Sneider is pretty confident about the fact that Legendary Pictures will surely be willing to do the movie at this time, writing “I bet they’d be willing to co-finance it now”.
