Brie Larson’s The Marvels is the next release in the 2023 lineup of theatrical MCU films. The franchise has had a middling 2023 with underwhelming projects except for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Secret Invasion both proved to be lackluster projects that failed to realize their potential and making a mark in setting the foundation for the future of the MCU.

The audiences are criticizing the decline in quality regarding CGI, storytelling, and worldbuilding in recent projects despite putting huge budgets into their production. The common complaint has been that the enormous budget used in making these films is not reflected in the final output and the studios seem to be eating away at the budget and not using it effectively.

Looking at the promos and trailers of The Marvels, the film seems to be the usual fun and quippy MCU adventure that people have already seen before. There is not much excitement in the project due to the underwhelming recent projects. As the release date of the film comes close, new information continues to come out about the film as MCU introduces the trio team of Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel.

The Marvels starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani is the next MCU flick scheduled to release on November 10, 2023. The film will bring together Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel as they try to battle the powerful Kree warrior Dar-Benn played by Zawe Ashton.

Recently, the official budget of The Marvels was revealed by Forbes. According to them, the movie has an official budget of $270 million. This puts the film among the most expensive MCU projects ever made. The Marvels becomes the most expensive MCU project only behind Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Kevin Feige and the team seem to have left no stone unturned in making the film as epic and as they envisioned it. Director Nia DaCosta must have given a compelling pitch to Feige which led him to provide such a humongous budget to realize DaCosta’s vision for the film.

“The overarching narrative is secondary to the narrative of the individual film. It is a Kevin Feige production, it’s his movie. So I think you live in that reality, but I tried to go in with the knowledge that some of you is going to take a back seat. It was really great to play in this world and to be a part of building this big world. But it made me just want to build my own world more”

DaCosta seems to have put her own DNA as a director in the mix of such a big studio production. Fans can experience DaCosta’s spin on the MCU when The Marvels releases in theatres on November 10, 2023.
