Jacob Tremblay is Really Quite Amazing, States Brie Larson

In the emotional thriller Room, Brie Larson played a young woman held captive for years with a son. She received her first Oscar for Best Actress. Audiences saw the chemistry between Brie Larson and co-star Jacob Tremblay as Ma and Jack.

In praise of Tremblay, the Academy Award winner actress said:

“The actor Jacob Tremblay, my co-star in Room, played a key role in my life. I couldn’t have done that film without him. He was only eight at the time but he was so smart, so conditioned. He didn’t fully understand the meaning of the film so he didn’t let the drama overtake him. After some of the emotional scenes, he thought I was crying for real and asked me to stop!”

For his part, Tremblay acknowledged $1.1B Movie Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson for guiding him in getting into the right mindset for specific scenes.

When I need to be serious, she helps me be serious,” the actor adorably explained.

Because of their connection, Larson and Tremblay were able to enter these darker, more complicated storylines and successfully handle them. Despite the age gap and Tremblay’s youth (he never read the entire screenplay out of concern for his emotional well-being), they are able to successfully convey a sense of scene partners that performers of the same age cannot manage.

Jacob Tremblay Learned a Lot from Brie Larson As Well

Prior to filming, Larson and Tremblay invested time in developing a genuine, strong, and protective bond. They shared a love for Star Wars, rode together to the set, and played alone in the Room set.

The two had developed a bond that mirrored that of parents and children. The two interact on screen with such ease which demonstrates their bond.

I mean, I learned stuff from Brie that I use on everything I do,” says Tremblay. “She was my first real co-star, and she was such a great co-star too. We became really good friends.”

I remember I was so young that I thought it wasn’t cool to cry in a movie,” says Tremblay. “But I saw her doing her crying scene and that kind of motivated me, and I was like, ‘Okay, this is pretty cool. She did it, so I think I can.’ I think that’s really helped my career and, yeah, had a big impact, for sure.”

Tremblay and Larson set the bar for adult-child acting partnerships to new heights as they embraced emotional truth off-screen.
