Goose first made an appearance in Captain Marvel, where she was initially perceived by Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) as a normal earthling cat. However, Goose is actually a Flerken, a man-eating alien with Lovecraftian tentacles hidden under all that orange fur. Although its precise role in The Marvels is still unknown, executive producer Mary Livanos earlier shared (via EW):

“Goose is her own person. She is full of surprises, and she certainly has a lot in store over the course of this story.”

Moreover, the highly anticipated Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, will require a box office receipt of approximately $450 million to justify its enormous $270 million budget. The Marvels is arriving in theaters on November 10, 2023.
