Activision announced the next Call of Duty title, Black Ops 6, a few days ago with a cryptic but interesting marketing campaign that sent the fans into a frenzy. After months of leaks and rumors, it was finally revealed that the franchise is going back to the Black Ops series.
The game is being developed by Treyarch Studios and Raven Software and will be set during the Gulf War of the 1990s. It was also speculated that the game would be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, and that is now officially confirmed with the latest live-action trailer.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Lands on Xbox Game Pass on Day One
There have been several reports that Microsoft wants to bring the next mainline Call of Duty title to Game Pass on day one, and the decision has already been made on that subject. This isn’t surprising given the state of the subscription service, and it seems about right, as the company spent so much money acquiring Activision Blizzard.
However, it wasn’t confirmed until now. Activision has released the official live-action reveal trailer for the game and announced that it will be coming to the subscription service on day one alongside other platforms. This comes after some Game Pass app users on iOS and Android devices received a notification regarding this.
The notification read, “Just announced: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to Game Pass on day one later this year!” This notification was linked to an unpublished blog post on Xbox.com, safe to assume, announcing the same thing.
It is not yet known if the price structure of the subscription will change or not, but there have been rumors that it may happen. This would not be something very out of the blue, as the company would be looking to make back the money from the subscription that players would have spent on purchasing the game for $70.
Black Ops 6 May Be the Best Entry in the Franchise in Recent Years
The game is expected to be the best title in the franchise, and from all the leaks and rumors heard about the game so far, it may be exactly that. The game is said to have the first open-world campaign in the history of the franchise.
What’s more interesting is that one of the campaign missions could be set during the horrific 9/11 attacks in 2001. Although a lot has been open to speculation and interpretation, fans can be assured that the Direct presentation after the official Showcase on June 9 will give them all the answers.
As of now, players are buzzing with excitement, and they cannot wait for an official release date, which could be sometime in October 2024, if rumors are to be believed. It remains to be seen what else Treyarch has in store for the players.
