As per Insider Gaming, rumors regarding two CoD projects, “Anvil” and “Devilwood” are fake. The rumors gained the spotlight after two popular CoD data miners, Visceral and VondyisPog, backed them up on social media. It was revealed that Anvil and Devilwood, believed to be Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sequels, were two Activision projects in development.

Both of these data miners have confirmed that the news is fake and no such projects are in the works. Enough time has passed since the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and finally, some players are ready to admit that these games received unnecessary hate back in the day.

In 2014, former Sledgehammer boss Michael Condrey revealed that they worked on an Uncharted-style Call of Duty game but the idea was eventually scrapped. He said (via GameSpot),

“In your head, you instantly can imagine an Uncharted style of game, but done in the lore of Call of Duty. You can see that. We built a prototype and it was cool. It was a true, gritty, Apocalypse Now take on Vietnam in an interactive way. We had a 15-minute demo, and there were some great moments.”

Last year in an interview with MinnMax, former Sledgehammer Games developer Bret Robbins confirmed that they created the demo but the idea was never executed. Despite these rumored Call of Duty titles getting scrapped, the Call of Duty franchise has remained one of the most popular video game franchises in the world.
