The latest entry in the once spectacular Call of Duty franchise hasn’t been doing well since it launched in November. Sledgehammer’s Modern Warfare 3 was met with criticism for its uninspired and short campaign, but if there’s one thing that keeps CoD titles alive, it’s the multiplayer mode.

However, even that seems to be riddled with issues such as cheaters plaguing the online matches right in front of Team Ricochet’s new anti-cheat system.

All of that may be forgivable to some extent, but one of the worst MW3 error codes has been destroying many players’ experiences for some time.

How to Fix Call of Duty’s 14515 MW3 Error Code

The latest Call of Duty's single player campaign may have been bad, but the multiplayer is not much better.

Call of Duty may not be at the same level as it used to be years ago, but the multiplayer scene is keeping Modern Warfare 3 going. Unfortunately, there is a well-known error in the online mode that plenty of players are sadly familiar with, as the dreaded error code 14515 often pops up and ruins what should have otherwise been a nice and fun gaming session. Thankfully, there is a way to potentially fix the pesky problem, which should ensure smooth sailing for at least a little while.

Firstly, understanding what causes the error code 14515 to show up in Modern Warfare 3 is important, as it usually happens when the game’s online servers have either way too many concurrent players or they are down for various reasons like maintenance. In the latter case, all one can do is wait for Sledgehammer Games to take its sweet time and fix whatever issue it is working on, but if that is not it, then the players have to take the solution into their own hands.

One should try to completely restart the game because the latest Call of Duty takes a couple of minutes to connect players with each other, which is mainly because of the massive player influx, and that should hopefully solve the problem.

Modern Warfare 3 Isn’t the First CoD to Feature the Dreaded Error Code

Warzone 2.0 players have previously reported the same error code, especially during the newly introduced DMZ mode.

Months before Activision launched Modern Warfare 3, a player took to the DMZ subreddit and reported the error code 14515 that popped up during the new mode introduced by Warzone 2.0. The code is usually preceded by a message that states “Failed to start matchmaking, please retry the operation,” which took place when the Call of Duty player tried loading up an online game.

Plenty of other gamers responded by saying “same here,” with the only apparent solution being restarting it “multiple times.”

Since this issue has been persisting for so long, it is about time Sledgehammer Games and Activision do something to finally fix it once and for all, unless they want players to jump ship to other more seamless gaming experiences.
