Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 had its second week of Beta access from October 12 until Friday, October 13. The previous Beta was held between the 6th and 10th of October, and now the developers seem to be making substantial changes to the gameplay mechanics, unsure of whether or not the changes will be seen over the next round of Beta access.

The initial beta period was unfortunately spoiled for many gamers by hackers and cheaters who seem to use the development kits of the PlayStation 4. Gamers were hoping to stay clear of any cheaters when Beta opened up again. This weekend also has Beta access open between the 14th and the 16th of October.

Weekend 2 of Open Beta has a level cap of 30, with two modes to choose from. Players must either eliminate the defending team or try to detonate one of the two bomb sites in Search and Destroy mode.

Cutthroat is the other mode players can opt to play during the second weekend of beta access, which is making a debut in the franchise. Players engage in 3v3v3 combat in this mode, with the teams battling to be the last ones standing or trying to be the first to capture the overtime flag.

The maps available for weekend 2 include Highrise, Estate, Skidrow, Rust, Popov Power, Favela, and the ORLOV Military Base. One of the major changes centers around the Flash Grenade in the game, as players are no longer blinded by it like in previous games.

This makes the flash grenades work quite similarly to how they do in Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant. The flash grenades would blind players in previous Call of Duty games, which was an inconvenience for highly sensitive players who no doubt welcomed the change.

Not all players are of the same opinion, as always, as another gamer chimed in on X (formerly Twitter) with the opinion that players’ ears must still ring and only blind players who face the grenade directly. Yet another user also mentioned how this might lead to nerfing the flash grenade, while others found it less useful.

A couple of other subtle changes that came with the Beta have also been mentioned by another user. This includes players no longer being able to tell if they’re on the enemy minimap and that enemy UAVs have switched to a sound from voiceovers.

Sledgehammer Games posted a thank-you post with the following update and mentioned players might see at least one or all of these changes, including Operator Visibility, Slide Timing, and Spawn Selection, during the second weekend of beta access.

Call of Duty‘s official handle also dropped another roadmap of what to expect from the Crossplay Beta that happened on October 12 and 13 with a post. It also shared an image detailing the maps that players would be able to access during the Beta.

While many gamers expressed their enthusiasm over waiting to access the Beta, there were lingering concerns about the Open Beta bringing in several cheaters and hackers that ruin the gameplay experience. This was the case with the first round of Beta on the 6th, and it’s unlikely the hackers would’ve been kept at bay this time around.

Once the game launches next month, there will be lots for gamers to look forward to. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 also has a Zombie mode that is said to feature the biggest Zombie map ever compared to previous iterations. Players will be able to experience the Zombie mode by themselves or in a PvE environment, in which up to eight squads of three players play in Freeplay or Dark Aether storyline modes.
