There are a lot of titles that have impressed gamers, but only some have managed to stay relevant year after year and continue to do so, including titles like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Roblox. These games have a large player base and continue to bring in more with new additions.
The company has been tapping into almost all areas of gaming, and according to Xbox president Sarah Bond, the company is now looking to challenge and adapt to the above-mentioned games, which are also called ‘Black Hole titles’, to bring in more players and increase growth.
Xbox Is Planning to Challenge Popular Titles Like Fortnite and Call of Duty
A large number of gamers are spending their time on titles like Fortnite, COD, and Roblox. These games are popular as they hear player feedback, bring in new content as part of collaborations with popular culture brands, and have a wide variety of games for players to enjoy.
President Sarah Bond has now addressed this and said that the company is looking to break into it. As reported by Windows Central, Sarah Bond has acknowledged that the gaming industry is facing the challenges posed by these Black Hole titles, where players devote most of their time and interest, always looking for new things, and the industry yet has to solve this.
She also emphasized Microsoft’s ability to change its strategy saying, “At a time when the gaming industry’s growth is flattening, ours continues.” This could mean that the company may be looking to expand and tackle these games with new strategies. This may be included in the company’s aim to take the brand everywhere while focusing on players and developers.
Xbox Is Also Focusing on Game Preservation, Still
Backward compatibility is one of the most important features that Microsoft offers on its consoles, and players can play games from the original console and others on their Series X and Series S consoles. Sarah Bond has now revealed that the games will live on to the next consoles as the company has set up a new dedicated department to work on game preservation.
In an email sent to her team, Sarah Bond said that the team will focus on ensuring “future-proofing” of the games available on the current consoles with the “hardware paradigm shifts” in the future. The team will ensure that the games are available to enjoy for players of future generations.
Bond further added, “We are building on our strong history of delivering backward compatibility to our players, and we remain committed to bringing forward the amazing library of games for future generations of players to enjoy.” It is said that Microsoft will share more information about this at the upcoming annual Showcase event scheduled for June 9, 2024.
