With Season 2 of Warzone 2 underway, some fans are already asking for the return of the original version. While not all fans were unanimously on board, a sizable section of fans was found reminiscing about the Verdansk map of Warzone in the comments of a post that had gone viral on X.

As more and more players are asking for a return, Activision Blizzard will do well to bank on the fan sentiment and bring back the fan-favorite game. Although as of the moment of writing this article, no news or updates have been released from the company regarding the matter.

The Call of Duty franchise has churned out some pretty iconic entries over the course of its existence. But in their haste to release newer games, they might be overlooking some decent entries altogether. One fan took to X to explain why they missed the original Warzone.

The post shows the fan playing in the famed Verdansk map of Warzone. The post garnered a lot of traction with over 1.1k reposts. Fans took to the comment section to sing praises about the game. One fan said, “Guns felt so freaking satisfying to shoot” while another chimed in, “I miss the OG Warzone vibes, bring back that Verdansk magic!

However, not everybody was a fan of the old game, obviously. One fan couldn’t hide their disdain as they said, “It looks like shit stop romanticizing the past“. Yet another fan echoed the sentiment saying, “Nah. It wasn’t a great map honestly“.

While there is always going to be people against a notion, it is to be noted that a large chunk of Call of Duty players want Warzone back.

New leaks suggest the Rebirth Island might be on its way back to Warzone but so far there has been no signs of Verdansk coming back. The Portable Decontamination Station has been brought back from Season 1 so fans are keeping up hope for a return of the popular OG Warzone map.

There hasn’t been no updates or news from Activision Blizzard regarding the fan requests of the return of Warzone. But the Call of Duty franchise is renowned for bringing back elements from past installments so fans are still clinging onto hope that Verdansk will make it back somehow.
