The Elden Ring community is no stranger to challenge runs. Almost every day we have people trying to beat the game in the least amount of time, or doing so with certain restrictions that make others go, “There’s no way.”

When one thinks of Malenia challenge runners, the most prominent one that comes to mind is LetMeSoloHer. The Jarhead sporting player has made a name for himself by enabling players to get past one of the toughest bosses in the game. However, a new challenger has entered the ring and may claim the title of best Malenia takedown!

LetMeSoloHer Has Competition as the Most Impressive Malenia Fighter

Elden Ring players are creating new challenges to take down the Sword of Miquella.
Elden Ring players are creating new challenges to take down the Sword of Miquella.

The post comes from the SL1 subreddit, a forum dedicated to players doing Soul Level 1/Blood Level 4/Base Vitality runs. u/Ruindows shared his fight with Malenia, with the clip starting right outside the fog gate while they apply buffs to their character.

As the title suggests, the player has to complete the fight without dodging or sprinting, and, as the cherry on top, without taking a single hit! Those who are familiar with Malenia understand the implications of such restrictions; she is one of the most agile bosses in the games, with fast attacks that hit like a truck, and even LetMeSoloHer needs to dodge!

Ruindows counteracts the lack of a dodge by using a specific Ash of War: the Dynast’s Finesse. As the default skill of the Blood Helice, it helps create distance before ending with a hard thrust. However, activating the skill at the exact time to make sure the evasion is successful is all part of the skill. Oh, they are also at super low health, likely for the 20% attack buff offered by the Red-Feathered Branchsword talisman.

Malenia’s speed and responsiveness are highly intimidating, not to mention the landmine that is the Waterfowl Dance. But Ruindows has more than enough practice against the Sword of Miquella, as they can avoid the Dance and almost every other attack simply by walking and with the Ash of War!

Elden Ring Challenge Runs Are Getting Increasingly Strict

The Goddess of Rot falls once again!

The lack of a dodge for Malenia is quite an extreme restriction, and the commenters on the post acknowledge the magnitude of this feat. Not only was the Elden Ring player able to dodge the Dance, but they were also able to dodge the Scarlet Aeonia attack at the start of phase 2, along with the attack when she sends clones rushing.

With enough pokes and some strategic footwork, they were able to take down the Goddess of Rot without taking a single hit in their first attempt! LetMeSoloHer may still be the most well-known Malenia melter, but this is an attempt for the Elden Ring history books for sure!

With Shadow of the Erdtree now coming closer to release, we can only speculate what kinds of challenges we’ll get to see. Bosses tuned similarly to Malenia are included in the expansion, so runners will have their work cut out for them! ‘

How do you think players could make the fight even more difficult? Let us know in the comments below.
