Grand Theft Auto fans have finally gotten their first look at GTA 6 after a decade of waiting, speculating, and hoping. Rockstar Games released the trailer 15 hours ahead of its scheduled release due to another leak, confirming that we are going back to Vice City.
The trailer also confirmed the protagonists, locations, side activities, and much more. One of the major things that we saw in the GTA 6 trailer was animals, which makes it worth wondering: are we getting pets in the game?
GTA 6 Trailer Has Dropped, and Apparently, We Can Have Pets
The GTA 6 trailer begins with the Vice City skylines, introducing Lucia, the female protagonist, who is in prison. She later goes on Bonnie and Clyde-inspired adventures with her partner Jason, who is still unnamed in the trailer for some reason. The trailer also showcases cars, guns, police, money, strip clubs, nightclubs, and side activities such as tennis, as we see a tennis court.
We also see the Everglades of Florida in the trailer, as well as alligators and flamingos, confirming there will be a wide variety of wildlife in the game. The next shot shows a pedestrian running on the beach with his pet, a Chihuahua, and another shot shows Official Poach, which stands for “Protection of Animals and Controlled Hunting,” assumably Rockstar’s version of PETA, catching an alligator from a pool, and another alligator in a store during the robbery.
This makes one wonder if we’ll be able to have pets in GTA 6. GTA 5 has several animals that players can interact with while exploring the open world. There was even a dog named Chop that players could take on a walk. This could happen in GTA 6 too, as we see an alligator bursting in a store, and what if you need to take it out or befriend it, for that matter? Maybe players can also get a flamingo as a companion while they’re exploring the Everglades in the airboats.
This makes sense. The open world of GTA 6 seems much more interactive and immersive than ever, and having pets would be nice since players have been asking for pets in the game for a long time. Fans mostly want dogs as companions, but the list also includes exotic fish and parrots, and since we did not see any parrots, having a flamingo as a companion wouldn’t be bad.
Allowing players to get pets and customize them would be a great addition to the game, and hopefully, GTA 6 gives fans that.
We have seen companions in Far Cry 6 called Amigos, and fans of the franchise have loved them. There are several companions in the game that help players in the combat against their enemies and have several perks and abilities. The companions include a crocodile, dog, rooster, panther, and more with abilities like killing enemies, revival, collecting resources, and more.
Players can unlock the companions early in Far Cry 6 and also find them in different locations and complete challenges to level up their abilities. GTA 6 could also bring a zoo and allow players to interact with animals and play host to them. There are endless possibilities, and Rockstar almost always gives players what they want, so it’s not a bad idea to assume we can have pets in GTA 6 as we await the game’s release in 2025.
While GTA 6 would not feature Far Cry 6-like abilities for pets as it does not fit within the Grand Theft Auto universe, it would be great to have pets and be able to customize them. The GTA 6 trailer has fantastic detailing and realistic character models, and the same with pets would only make the game more immersive for players.
