Capcom’s Onimusha franchise started all the way back in 2001, with the first title Onimusha: Warlords. Since then, three other main games came out between 2002 and 2006, with 3 spin-offs as well. The Onimusha series is now getting an anime adaptation on Netflix, and here’s what has been revealed so far.
The anime adaptation, titled Onimusha, got its first trailer a few days back. From the trailer, it does not look like it’s completely inspired by the game, but going by the comments left by fans, it has struck a chord with the gamers who enjoyed the franchise. The series releases on Netflix on the 2nd of November.

With over a hundred theatrical and television productions under his belt, Takashi Miike will be helming the Onimusha anime series as Supervising Director and working along with the Director Shinya Sugai. Bringing their unique take on the gaming series, Sugai and Miike will look to revive the franchise through the anime series.
The trailer features the famous Oni Gauntlet which is featured in the game as a powerful piece of equipment wielded first by Samanosuke Akechi. The protagonist from the game, Samanosuke Akechi has not made an appearance in the trailer that was recently released, as the series centers around Miyamoto Musashi-dono who is seen wielding the gauntlet.
The series has also brought to life a legendary Japanese actor, as Musashi is being modeled after the legendary actor’s looks. Musashi will be seen protecting a girl from demons and Samurais as he embarks on his quest.
