Harrison Ford’s entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one that has been highly anticipated and talked about. Taking over the role of General Thunderbolt Ross in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, there is a lot that can be expected from this actor and his future in this franchise. One of the biggest topics of conversation in recent times is that surrounding a picture from the set of this film, that showcases the actor in ripped pants, similar to the ones worn by Bruce Banner. This has caused many to speculate about the possibility of him becoming the Red Hulk in this movie, something that many fans adore from the comics.

This also raises the question of what series of events could cause such a huge transformation for this seemingly morally-white character. With Liv Tyler reprising her role of Betty Ross after having appeared in The Incredible Hulk the last time, this brings up the question of who else could possibly make an appearance in this film. The first person that comes to mind is one of the oldest villains to appear in the MCU, The Leader, also known as Doctor Samuel Sterns. Could he be the reason that Ross turns red?

Who Is The Leader?

Appearing in The Incredible Hulk, Samuel Sterns, who came to be known as The Leader, played by Tim Blake Nelson, was a cellular biologist who was trying to find a cure for Bruce Banner, who became the Hulk after trying to re-create Captain America’s super-solider serum. In order to cure him, Sterns first needed a test subject, who he could use to better understand Banner’s condition and find an antidote.

In order to do this, repeat this process with Emil Blonsky, turning him into The Abomination while trying to turn him into something similar to the Hulk. After an altercation with Blonsky, he ends up accidentally getting infected by Banner’s blood, causing his brain to expand in size and gain him immense, superhuman intelligence and knowledge. After this, he was put in the custody of S.H.I.E.L.D. by Natasha Romanoff.

He Could Make Harrison Ford’s General Ross Into The Red Hulk

Since then, The Leader has not even been mentioned in name or hinted at, let alone made a return to this MCU. With Emil Blonsky’s character, as well as Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross making their way into the franchise in some way or the other, there may be a possibility of this character also coming back. One way that he could help the plot of this franchise progress in a positive way could be through Harrison Ford’s General Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Brave New World

Using this character as a way to turn Ross into the Red Hulk would be the perfect opportunity for Marvel as a whole. With speculation that this character would be turning into the red rage monster, the only person who would be better suited to turn Ford’s character into this would be Bruce Banner himself. Ross could potentially force Samuel Sterns to either recreate the super-soldier serum or the serum that turned Banner into the Hulk. This could result in him turning into the Red Hulk.
