Mackie recently also ventured into business after buying 20 acres of land in the southern city of New Orleans to open a film and television studio. Apart from the limelight of the showbiz industry, the actor also owns a few establishments.

Anthony Mackie Owns a Gay Bar in New Orleans

On a fine evening, the Avenger actor was heading home listening to Whitney Houston in his car driving slow when another car came up at nearly 100 miles per hour. The driver of the car lost control and eventually the front of her car imploded before the actor’s eyes.

Talking about the crazy incident he experienced in the car, Anthony Mackie revealed the final safe landing was near his favorite spot in Atlanta. “This is my favorite restaurant,” Mackie said after the incident revealing that the actor owns a few establishments including a wine bar, gym, and a cigar bar.

“My wine bar is next door. My gym is next door to that. My cigar bar is next door to that. My favorite dinner restaurant is next door to that. On Sunday, I’ll start here and just make my way up the block.”

The Banker actor further revealed that he owns a gay bar which is the crown jewel of gay bars in New Orleans. “I have a gay bar in New Orleans that is the crown jewel of gay bars,” Mackie told Inverse.

“My brother and his husband were like, ‘We need a place to party.’ I’m like, ‘Let’s open a f*cking place to party.’”

The New Orleans native also wanted to open a franchise of his favorite Atlanta Mexican restaurant in New Orleans, however, the actor said that the owners were not interested in the idea of his expansion. “I wanted to open a restaurant called Fusion Confusion,” he said. 

Maybe in the near future, the actor would rope into the restaurant business, but for now, he is quite happy with the establishments he owns.

Anthony Mackie To Open a Production Company

Earlier, Mackie was in the news after New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell announced on Twitter that the Avenger actor was set to open a 20-acre film and television studio in the city. “Mackie bought the land near the Little Woods neighborhood,” Cantrell wrote on Twitter. 

“New Orleans own Anthony Mackie is opening a HUGE 20-acre film studio! This is INCREDIBLE !!” she added expressing her excitement. “The influx of productions will not only bring economic growth but job opportunities!” As per Nola.com, Mackie bought the land near the Little Woods neighborhood.

The actor has found to have an innate passion for producing titles. In fact, he has quite a few producing credits which include The Banker and Outside The Wire. As per reports, Mackie’s new company would be called East Studios, LLC.

According to Deadline, New Orleans City Councilman Oliver Thomas was also excited about Mackie’s production company. “To have Captain America and his brand and his star power I think it helps to support all the other investments,” Thomas said.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actor has not revealed anything about his production company yet, but this could potentially open up new opportunities for many TV and movie titles. 

Julius Onah directed Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to release on 26 July 2024.
