Brie Larson has been vocal about advocating for s*xual assault survivors. She made headlines when she decided to stand still on presenting Casey Affleck with his Oscar for winning the Best Actor award in 2017. The latter at the time won the statuette for his work in Manchester by the Sea. While the audience was seen giving a standing ovation to him, Larson went viral for a completely different reason.

Many noticed that the Marvel actress was not clapping on stage even though she was the one presenting the award. Though she did hug him, she refused to celebrate his win which led to speculation that her reaction was the effect of his past s*xual harassment allegations.

She knew what she was doing as she subtly addressed the topic without highlighting herself in the spotlight. Her actions came after Affleck’s past allegations resurfaced.
