Anime characters follow a simple rule while displaying their powers; scaling and balance. This is implemented to present the audience with combat scenes that are tense, exciting, and meaningful. The protagonists usually start as an underdog. However, with training, they gradually become stronger. Villains start off with maximum power in most cases. There are also series that feature overpowered anime characters who break all the rules.
Some anime consist of extremely powerful protagonists and villains who make other characters appear irrelevant when compared to them. This leads to unfair and unrealistic battle standards, which can be pulled off amazingly if written correctly. Ryuk from Death Note and Makima from Chainsaw Man are prime examples of villains who are untouchable in their lives. However, if these two characters were to clash, then who would come out as the victor?
How strong is Makima from Chainsaw Man?
The protagonist of Chainsaw Man, Denji, met this mysterious kuudere under quite intriguing circumstances. Makima finds him and offers him the opportunity to work with them. However, this simple-looking woman turned out to be the Control Devil. Makima can easily control other people to do her bidding. Her arsenal of abilities spans beyond that, as the character can cheat death itself by transferring her wounds to random people across Japan.
All these traits make her nigh-unkillable along with the character possessing massive offensive power that she can use to kill her enemies remotely. She also has an adequate level of charisma, which helps her to keep her subordinates under her thumb. Other beings in the world are scared of her, and it keeps making her stronger.
Will Ryuk from Death Note overwhelm Makima in a head-on battle?
The extremely capable Anti-hero was no match for Ryuk. The Shinigami was ridiculously strong compared to this high school boy with a Death Note. Ryuk could do everything a human Death Note user could do and even more.
If there was an outright fight between these two characters, then we should consider that Ryuk was also immortal. He could’ve any physical attack not affect him as long as he kept harvesting his victims’ lifespans. He would probably be out of Makima’s influence as he is literally the Death God. They’re shown to display powers that are physically indestructible and can turn themselves and their notebook intangible at will. He is also invisible, and his presence can’t be detected, which is why no detective can even try to hunt him down.
