Players are excited to visit the Land of Shadow and take on new bosses, including the big bad Messmer the Impaler. The release date reveal has got the players playing the base game again to warm up for the DLC, and a player has found that one character could have ruined it all.

Gideon Could Have Ruined the Elden Ring DLC for Players

One Elden Ring player took to the r/EldenRingLoreTalk subreddit and said that they found that one of Gideon’s dialogues was referring to the DLC. Sir Gideon Ofnir, also known as the All-Knowing, is an NPC and boss in the Leyndell region of Ashen Capital. He can be found in the Erdtree sanctuary when players progress after defeating Maliketh.

The dialogue that the player is referring to is the one after players reach the Mohgwyn Palace Mausoleum that begins with “Oh, so that’s where the so-called Lord of Blood was hiding himself eh.” As per the dialogue lines, it feels like Gideon is aware of where Mohg, or the “Lord of Blood,” is hiding in Miquella’s infant form and says that “it’s worth looking into.”

“If what I’ve heard is right, then maybe…” Gideon adds before abruptly stopping. This suggests that he knew where Miquella was, and it is also confirmed that the expansion will focus on Miquella, so the theory might be right. Even if it does not relate to the DLC specifically, it could be related to what’s next for Miquella in Shadow of the Erdtree.

The Excitement for Shadow of the Erdtree Has Led to Several Recent Discoveries

The player also adds that Gideon hints that Marika is distressed about Mohg taking Miquella. The player added that there’s a chance Marika was distressed because Mohg separated the cocoon from the haligtree, which also separated Miquella’s soul and body. However, the player mentions that even if it’s not how Miquella got out of his body, it could be a reason for Marika’s grieving.

Players are excited about the DLC and are speculating what it could bring; this has led to players playing Elden Ring once again, and there have been some amazing discoveries. The first and very important discovery was a wooden shield in the Sage’s Cave in the Atlus Plateau, which mentions a candle-tree design and also has a symbol.

Players have found that it is the same symbol that was seen in the Shadow of the Erdtree gameplay reveal trailer and represents Messmer the Impaler. The trailer showed Messmer’s command having weapons and armor with the same candle-tree symbol that is on the shield in the base game. This is probably the “small element” that Hidetaka Miyazaki said was left undiscovered by players.
