Dragon Ball Z fans have been waiting eagerly for the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, which is the fourth installment of the Budokai Tenkaichi series. The announcement for the game was made during The Game Awards last year, with the title expected to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S consoles, and on PC through Steam.

An official release date has not been announced yet by developers Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft. For now, fans have been trying to determine just how many characters will return, and if any new characters will make a surprising debut in the upcoming Dragon Ball Z game.

The Budokai Tenkaichi series is coming back with a fourth title in the franchise, and the game’s description on Steam states it will include an “incredible roster of playable characters.” The trailer for the game is as action-packed as fans would expect, with a plethora of characters teased in it.

A Reddit post about unlikely characters fans will get to see in the base game when Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero eventually releases has got a lot of comments from long-time fans. One of the comments mentioned Botamo and Magetta as playable in the game, along with Saonel and Pirina. Dr. Rota was the surprise entry in the game mentioned by a fan.

Another Reddit post was dedicated to the characters fans hoped not to see in the upcoming DBZ game. Among the characters mentioned by most were Ribrianne and Kid Chi Chi which stood out as the ones several fans did not want to see return to the roster. Others mentioned by the fans include Arale, Jaco, Dolltaki, and Babidi.

One of the comments also mentioned the invisible fighters from the Tournament of Power Fighters could be done away with in the upcoming DBZ game. The characters from Universe 9 and Universe 2 were also mentioned by fans in the comments of the post.

It will not be a DBZ game without Vegeta and Goku and the trailer showed off several variants of both in familiar locations.

The areas teased include the original location where Goku and Vegeta first faced off, and a glimpse of Namek as well.

The trailer for the upcoming DBZ title showed off Super Saiyan 2 Goku and Vegeta facing off against each other before showing off Super Saiyan 3 Goku facing off against Majin-Vegeta. The trailer rounds up with Goku’s Super Saiyan God form.

There are also glimpses of Android 17, Tien, and Yamcha in the trailer. Some of the other confirmed characters include Mr. Satan, Majin Buu, Bergamo, Jiren, Krillin, Piccolo, and Tien among several others. In total, there were close to 17 characters shown off in the trailer.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting an announcement to be made about the official release date, which shouldn’t be too far away.
