Why Didn’t Charlie Hunnam Return For Pacific Rim 2?
Charlie Hunnam was one of the highlights of the original Pacific Rim back in 2013, so it was a major shock for fans when it was revealed that he was not going to return for the sequel, which was released back in 2018.
While speaking during an interview with Den of Geek about The Lost City of Z, Charlie Hunnam was asked about the reason why he didn’t appear in Pacific Rim: Uprising. He noted that he was already attached to star in Papillion, something he was deeply invested in, when the movement began on Pacific Rim: Uprising. Therefore, schedule conflicts led to his exclusion from the sequel.
“There was a huge scheduling conflict,” he said. “I was already really, really invested in doing ‘Papillion.’”
Charlie Hunnam is set to portray a role in Rebel Moon, which will be releasing on December 15th in the USA. We will have to wait and see whether his role will end up bagging him some awards next year.
