The multiversal saga has been a mixed bag for the MCU so far. And with Jonathan Majors being let go, it can’t be said for certain what the future holds for this chapter, which was being built around the character of Kang. However, it seems Marvel might not be shifting away from the Conqueror just yet, as new rumors suggest Kang might play a major part in the potential Doctor Strange 3.
While things have been quiet on the MCU’s part on Doctor Strange 3, per new rumors, the threequel will see Charlize Theron’s Clea teaming up with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Strange.
Charlize Theron Is Rumored to Return and Fight the Council of Kangs in Doctor Strange 3
Although Kevin Feige has yet to confirm Doctor Strange 3 officially, it seems the potential threequel might see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange joining forces with Clea. First teased at the end of Madness of Multiverse, there has been no movement about Charlize Theron‘s Clea in the MCU, with the actor previously revealing she is yet to receive a call from Marvel.
But per the new rumor, Clea will mark her return in the threequel, and the story will revolve around the duo of Strange and her trying to fight and stop different incursions from different universes. Furthermore, the council of Kangs is rumored to be at the center of it all, accompanied by different Strange variants.
While it can’t be said for sure, if these rumors hold any weight, especially considering that Majors was fired from the MCU last year, it might not be game over for Kang just yet.
Even though it was reported that MCU might be moving away from the Conqueror, per Daniel Richtman, Marvel will be sticking to its big gun for both Avengers 5 and 6. And if Doctor Strange 3 does see the light before these releases, it’s not unlikely to assume that Kang might play a part in the movie.
Charlize Theron Saw the MCU as Cheap Nerd Culture Before Experiencing It First-Hand
Although it can’t be said for certain if Theron will reprise her part in the potential threequel, the actor once revealed that she used to perceive the MCU as a cheap nerd culture. And it wasn’t until her loved ones had her watch them all, which eventually changed the actor’s preconceived notion about the cinematic giant.
She told THR:
“I was ignorant, I didn’t know those [Marvel] movies well enough until a family who I consider, like, my adopted family had me watch them. They’re crazy Marvel fans, and I always used to make fun of them. Like, ‘Oh my God, you guys are such f-cking nerds. Then one spring break we rented a house and our kids were in a camp and they were like, ‘You need to fucking sit down and watch.’ So, we watched all the movies, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, they’re so f-cking good.'”
As of now, fans can only hope that Theron’s journey in the MCU continues past her brief appearance in Doctor Strange 2, as the actor has proven to be excellent in superhero flicks.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is available to stream on Disney Plus.
