Jon Hamm is an incredibly talented actor known best for his titular role as Don Draper in Mad Men. And the ever-buzzing and bustling universe of Marvel would greatly benefit from having an actor as suave as him. Since the Marvel Cinematic Universe is ever evolving, bringing newer characters on the big screen with each passing year, there seem to be many roles the actor would be perfect for.
Hamm however, seems to have had his heart set on one Marvel villain in particular, the evil Doctor Doom. And in a recent interview, the Top Gun star made it known that he is a big fan of the superhero franchise and has high hopes to enter that realm as well.
Jon Hamm is a Big Fan of Marvel Comics
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been busy bringing back iconic comic book characters while also re-introducing old ones who have already had their silver screen debut. Such a scenario naturally indicates that Marvel Studios has a huge lineup to fill.
While there are many actors who could potentially be as great as numerous Marvel characters, Jon Hamm is one of the few actors fans would love to see in a Marvel role (via X). After reportedly being eyed for the role of Mr. Sinister in Fox’s X-Men universe, the actor was asked in an interview with Screen Rant if he would ever want to make his MCU debut.
And the Fargo star replied,
“I don’t know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to. I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.”
Jon Hamm Already Knows Which Marvel Character He Wants to Play
Jon Hamm can effortlessly transition between charming to menacing character, a skill that would be perfect for him to lead a villainous role, something that he is already inclined to portray. While speaking to Screen Rant, the actor stated,
“Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, Is know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?”
While there hasn’t been any news of Doctor Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, there is no denying that Jon Hamm as the villain would be an epic choice. Seeing the actor’s capabilities, there seems to be no doubt that he cannot bring justice to the character.
Furthermore, with rumors of Doctor Doom being a possible Kang the Conqueror replacement in Avengers 6, Hamm possesses the gravitas necessary to do justice to such a layered role. As Marvel battles the many challenges it has been facing, it would be great for the studio to potentially consider Hamm as the formidable villain in the MCU, who seems to be the only viable Kang replacement.
