Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okktosu are in a continuing battle against the King of Curses Sukuna and this fight has elevated the excitement of fans for the conclusion of Gege Akutami’s series. Not only are they fighting against the most powerful villain in the series, but they are also dominating the fight which was unexpected after seeing almost every character being killed at the hands of Sukuna. The new moves and abilities that Yuji learned before the Culling games arc began are surely coming in handy right now.

Among these techniques that Yuji learned, the most surprising one that was recently shown in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 251 was the blood manipulation technique which is an inherited technique within the Kamo family. However, the Blood manipulation technique that Yuji used against Sukuna was a silent nod at the Demon Slayer character Nezuko who also has a similar Blood demon art form.

Yuji Uses Blood Manipulation Technique in Jujutsu Kaisen

In chapter 251 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji spits blood in Sukuna’s face while he brings together a combination of attacks with Yuta against the King of Curses. At the same time, Yuji caused the blood that he had earlier spit on Sukuna’s face to burst, proving to fans that the former could employ the Blood Manipulation technique.

Fans have long speculated that Yuji might eventually learn how to perform Choso’s Blood Manipulation Technique, one of the most potent and adaptable moves in the series, given that the two are by convention half-brothers. His use of Blood manipulation against Sukuna, also shocked the King of Curses, while recognizing Yuji’s strength.

Yuji has now officially reached the rank of a special grade as not only he can now use Blood manipulation but he also has learned a bunch of other special cursed techniques like the Reversed Cursed Technique and the ability to attack the souls of others using only his punches. The thing that makes it more interesting is that Yuji’s blood manipulation is a lot similar to the Blood Demon art technique of Nezuko from Demon Slayer.

Gege Akutami’s Reference of Nezuko in Jujutsu Kaisen

It wouldn’t be strange if Yuji’s and Nezuko’s power similarities are deliberate as Gege Akutami frequently makes subtle allusions to certain well-known works in their manga. With the use of her Blood Demon Art, Nezuko can burn her blood whenever she pleases, creating flames that are lethal to demons, demon-related items, and other Blood Demon Arts but perfectly safe for humans and other objects.

These fires have the power to prevent other demons from regenerating and to momentarily turn Nichirin Swords a vivid red, enhancing the power of their blows. Yuji’s use of blood manipulation during Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 251 was quite similar to Nezuko’s technique in Demon Slayer anime and manga.

While Yuji is a human harnessing cursed energy and Nezuko’s abilities are the result of her demonic transformation, the similarities between these two characters’ talents could be a subtle method for Akutami to bring up the famous anime series Demon Slayer in their work.
