The Extraction II star took a trip down memory lane, quite literally, when he visited his childhood home in the Northern Territory of Australia. Hemsworth’s carousel post on Instagram was a mosaic of heartwarming moments of the present, an echo of what had been, and what is now; thirty-five years apart.

On Sunday, April 7, Chris Hemsworth posted a carousel on Instagram from his visit to Gulin Gulin, Bulman; a place where the star spent his “earliest and happiest memories”. The community members welcomed the star warmly, all dressed in red, and Hemsworth standing in stark contrast with his grey tank and black shorts.

Sharing photos from his time at Gulin Gulin, interacting with the community there, Hemsworth penned a heartfelt caption, which read:

“When I was younger my family and I lived in a remote community in the Northern Territory. Some of my earliest and happiest memories are from that time.”

The carousel also included an image, supposedly from Hemsworth’s childhood. And another, showing the adult Hemsworth autographing a shirt for a little fan. People seem to be overjoyed to have the Thor: Love and Thunder star amongst themselves. Many little boys with smiley faces carry paper cutouts of Thor’s hammer crowd Hemsworth in another one of the photos.

He also shared a picture of a handmade poster from one of his little fans from Gulin Gulin, who has drawn stars, flowers, rain, and a little Thor, all in the loveliest shade of blue with the words “Welcome Home” written in big letters.

Hemsworth expressed his gratitude toward the people of Gulin Gulin, saying:

“Now, 35 years later I’ve been lucky enough to take a trip back there. I couldn’t be more grateful to the people of Gulin Gulin for welcoming us with such warmth and kindness. Much love and appreciation ❤️”

Hemsworth seemed to have a great time returning to his childhood homestead. This was a welcome look into his childhood for his ardent fans who might have been disappointed with an update regarding one of the original Avengers.

Hemsworth discovered last year that he has a greater chance of being stricken by Alzheimer’s disease (via Men’s Health), and has made changes to his lifestyle to avoid it, making life more slow-paced in one way or another. Talking about this in an interview with Men’s Health, Hemsworth said:

“Now, I’m incorporating more solitude into my life. Lately I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself without any outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness. I do a lot of meditation and breath work mostly during sauna and ice bath routines.”

Visiting his roots might be an extension of his efforts of a lifestyle change. But childhood nostalgia is an unparalleled feeling that one would seek regardless of the possibility of being stricken by an illness.
