Remember our favorite Avengers from the beginning? Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow – they are gone, leaving a hole in the heart of the team. The mighty God of Thunder, Thor is one of the remaining survivors, alongside Hulk, and Hawkeye in the post-Endgame MCU, holding onto his four solo adventures, surpassing the trilogies of Captain America and Iron Man. But whispers suggest Chris Hemsworth, who has incarnated Thor for over a decade, might be ready for new ventures.
Given the structure of the clash between Thor and Hercules in the MCU, it makes sense to look forward to the fifth Thor film. However, there’s a palpable speculation that this could end Chris Hemsworth’s time as the character. This possible farewell leaves one question: Who will fill the void left by the God of Thunder in the hearts of the Avengers?
We Might See Chris Hemsworth For the Last Time as Thor
While Thor 5 has not been officially confirmed, rumors suggest that discussions for the project began in October 2023. However, reports suggest that this project could be the end of Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor MCU journey as Thor. And since it’s also speculation that Thor 5 could be the last installment in the franchise, we are probably going to see Hemsworth in this look for the last time.
Chris Hemsworth, two years back, stated that after four standalone films and over a decade as the God of Thunder, it may be time to say goodbye to the role.
“I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans.”
He added,
“You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know — am I at that stage? Who knows?”
Meanwhile, Taika Waititi told Business Insider that he “won’t be involved” in a fifth Thor movie, if ever made. The Oscar winner directed Chris Hemsworth in the beloved Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and the hugely divisive Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).
It’s an Upsetting Update for His Fans
For his fans, it’s an upsetting update to learn about the possibility of seeing him one last time as Thor, who took on the iconic role of the God of Thunder in 2011’s Thor.
Hoping they would give him a one last good film
