Timothée Chalamet Attributes Hollywood Stardom to Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan’s Collaboration

Call Me by Your Name is the film that put Timothée Chalamet on the map. To this day, it’s considered his best performance, where he plays Elio Perlman, a young man living in Italy who falls in love with Oliver (Armie Hammer).

Even though it was Luca Guadagnino’s flick that bright him close to success, The Dark Knight is the film that truly made him a star.

Even though he’s not in the movie, he really admires The Dark Knight. In an interview with The New York Times, the actor commented on the superhero movie genre, saying:

“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good. I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

At first, movie mogul Leonardo DiCaprio warned him to steer clear of superhero movies like “hard drugs,” and Chalamet listened to that advice. But he still hasn’t forgotten how Christopher Nolan‘s 2008 superhero feature motivated him to chase acting.

Timothée Chalamet’s Upcoming Biographical Project

Timothée Chalamet is teaming up with director James Mangold for a biographical project. They’re working on bringing Bob Dylan’s life to the screen in a film called A Complete Unknown. The 82-year-old Dylan himself is a part of the film, with Chalamet playing the iconic singer and songwriter.

The film will focus on Every Grain of Sand singer’s rise in the music industry, particularly when he transitioned from folk to electric guitar at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. Chalamet plans to do his own singing in the movie, just like he did in Wonka, which was released a few months ago.

The cast appears to be finalized with Timmy set as Bob Dylan, but he’s not the only big name. Benedict Cumberbatch was also part of the cast but had to leave because of scheduling conflicts.

The movie also features Boyd Holbrook, Elle Fanning (co-starred with Chalamet in A Rainy Day in New York), Monica Barbaro, Nick Offerman, and P.J. Byrne. The film hasn’t started filming yet, but it will be shot in Montreal and New York.
