James Mangold

In a recent podcast- Hot Mic with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, Jeff Sneider had a lot of tea to spill about a movie in the making. He informed that Going Electric by James Mangold will have its name changed. Mangold is a reputed name in the industry, with movies like Logan, Ford Vs Ferrari, and The Wolverine, in his portfolio, being one of the most seasoned directors. Jeff Sneider revealed on the podcast that Christian Bale was being eyed for a role, there were reports that he will play Pete Seeger in the movie, but nothing was confirmed. It was probably for a reason because now Benedict Cumberbatch is being sought for the role.

When one sees the young Pete Seeger, and Benedict Cumberbatch playing the guitar, the similarity between the two is almost uncanny. The editor, Jeff Sneider said with much enthusiasm that Cumberbatch is almost perfect for the role. He said that unless there is more to the director and Bales’ relationship, nothing should stop the director from going ahead with Benedict Cumberbatch.

They look very similar and Cumberbatch could easily play a young Pete Seeger. He has the looks, charisma, and skill to pull off that role. However, none of the casting other than Timothee Chalamet has been confirmed.

Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan

Timothee Chalamet is confirmed to be playing Bob Dylan in the movie. He has been preparing for it for almost two years. The actor will also be seen in Wonka. Chalamet’s journey has been quite unique with films like Call Me By Your Name which launched him into critic’s eyes and Dune, which made him a household name. “I haven’t stopped preparing, which has been one of the greatest gifts for me. It’s been a wonderful experience getting to dive into that world, whether we get to make it or not. But without giving anything away — because I don’t want to beat anyone to the punch, and obviously things have to come together officially — the winds that are blowing are blowing in a very positive direction.
