Christopher Nolan’s 2023 movie Oppenheimer is, without a doubt, one of the best movies of 2023. The film’s main cast is one of the main reasons behind the success of the film and as per actor Cillian Murphy, they all are a “highly dysfunctional but close” family. The film featured some of the best Hollywood stars who came together to create this cinematic masterpiece.
Oppenheimer beautifully narrates the story of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film featured his involvement in the Manhattan Project during World War II and his eventual fall from grace due to his 1954 security hearing. From the stunning visuals to the acting, everything was on point, making it the highest-grossing biographical and World War II-related film.
Cillian Murphy says the cast of Oppenheimer is a “highly dysfunctional but close” family
At the 35th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala (PSIFF), actor Cillian Murphy was interrupted by his Oppenheimer co-star Robert Downey Jr while he was being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight. During the conversation, Murphy said,
“You know, these guys – we’ve become a bit of a dysfunctional family. I think we are highly dysfunctional but close.”
Downey Jr then joked that Murphy gave the “shortest speech in the history of speeches” after getting an award at the event. In his short speech, the actor explained that he doesn’t like talking about himself and then praised other people for their work.
Oppenheimer was well-received by the audience
Apart from Murphy and Downey Jr, the film featured Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, and Rami Malek. The film was scheduled for release simultaneously with Warner Bros.’s Barbie, creating a cultural phenomenon called Barbenheimer. The film was a massive financial success as it grossed over $954 million worldwide, becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 2023.
