Nintendo’s legacy is vast in size with the number of games they can pick and choose from, but we really are spoilt for choice when it comes to Zelda, especially considering they have given us more to play with the Switch’s Online subscription plan.

Two of the classic Nintendo Game Boy colour titles ‘The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons’ are available to play now via the Nintendo Switch Online. With these latest Zelda titles added to the roster, Nintendo continues to drop classics keeping long-time fans entertained through nostalgia whilst possibly introducing new fans to the series.

Classic Zelda is back!

Nintendo really does seem to be the gift that keeps on giving. With that, they continue to add to their classic roster via their subscription-based service. PlayStation and Xbox both have subscription-based services and they put a substantial amount of games on there but there is such a thing as less-is-more when it comes to selecting what titles to put active and when.

With the newest Legend Of Zelda title (Tears Of The Kingdom) for the Nintendo Switch very much active and into its life span as we speak the need for anything else would seem quite futile at this point given the game’s sheer scale and the fullness of the world alongside its charm & character that only Nintendo can deliver on. However, we have been given the ideal fix for anyone looking to continue their Zelda adventures.

With both ‘The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons’ we are given a lot of classic Zelda mechanics that fans of the series are accustomed to, time manipulation, jumping between past and present in order to correct wrongs and continue quests. With the Oracle of Seasons we were introduced to a different take on the back-and-forth mechanic of time travel, we get to explore the seasons and work through puzzles and dungeons using the rod of seasons.

Nintendo has a great way of catering to every single audience from young too old and they do it with absolute mastery, giving us consoles such as the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo DS + DSI to cater to on-the-move gamers or new gamers, kids etc. Then giving us the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite which can be used on the move or at home.

Either way, they cater to all audiences and age groups and not only have they achieved this they then give long-time Nintendo fans a reason to revisit classics they may have played in their younger years just adding to the reason to purchase their console, they certainly know how/when to tick the boxes to gain interest.

Nintendo has a great way of catering to all audiences both new and seasoned with a range of consoles that are budget friendly and accessible.

The Online subscription service spans not just Nintendo content but third-party content, the Sega Megadrive software is also inclusive of this subscription on top of multiple Switch software DLC which can be purchased separately however you stand to benefit a lot more from Nintendo’s subscription-based service.

Given the classic console war rivalry Nintendo & Sega used to have for one another in a very public fashion with Sega being quite ruthless with their marketing slogans such as “Genesis does what Nintendon’t” and “You Can’t Do This on Nintendo” it is extremely humbling and also very cool to see the two companies working side by side to give us what made us love them in the first place in one accessible console.

It does seem that Nintendo wants to revisit this age of gaming that made these titles so special by making a lot of these classics now playable via online-multiplayer whilst adding the classic option of split-screen and giving the older generation gamers the chance to introduce their children to these classics that got them into gaming in the first place.

Given that we already have a large amount of the Zelda titles included on the Switch’s Online service there are a few missing. What would you like to see included? Are any missing that got you into the series? Let us know in the comments!
