Cobra Kai, the spinoff/sequel to The Karate Kid film series, has received a lot of praise from critics and fans alike. It stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who reprise their roles of Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence respectively. Interestingly enough, the sixth season of the spinoff might introduce Mir Miyagi’s greatest opponent yet.
The fifth season of the show concluded back in September last year and now the sixth season is set to release sometime next year. Considering the way season 5 ended on a cliffhanger concerning John Kreese, season 6 might just amp things up in a big way.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Might Introduce Mr. Miyagi’s Greatest Foe Yet
Cobra Kai season 6 appears to be introducing a character who could potentially challenge the legacy of Mr. Miyagi. This will mark a big change from the established narrative that Miyagi is truly the strongest of them all.
Season 6 will likely introduce Kim Sun-Yung as a potential rival to Mr. Miyagi. While Miyagi’s influence remains central to the series, Kim Sun-Yung, the creator of The Way of the Fists, emerges as a formidable opponent. Unlike Miyagi, Kim Sun-Yung is known for an offensive style, teaching Terry Silver and John Kreese dangerous techniques. The series till now has not shown a direct connection between Miyagi and Kim Sun-Yung. Season 6, however, may explore a deeper link between the two, adding complexity to the ongoing conflict in the Miyagi-verse.
Is Mr. Miyagi Aware Of Kim Sun-Yung?
The lore established in The Karate Kid Part III reveals an intriguing connection between Kim Sun-Yung and Kreese, with Terry Silver giving an apology on Kreese’s behalf. However, it is later revealed that this was a sneaky plan orchestrated by Kreese himself.
While the present lore in the Miyagi verse indicates that Mr. Miyagi did not know Kim Sun-Yung, Cobra Kai season 6 may potentially retcon elements from the franchise’s past. This is seemingly in a bid to strengthen the connection between Miyagi’s legacy and the ongoing overarching conflict that fans will be seeing in Season 6. In case you didn’t know, Season 6 will be the final season of the show, so we’ll have to see how the showrunners will wrap everything up in a neat bow.
