Shots have been exchanged between Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, and the renewed drama reportedly isn’t boding well for the Prince of Pop. Timberlake is concerned that the backlash is currently overshadowing his new music. The singer has released his new single, Selfish, from his upcoming album, Everything I Thought It Was. Interestingly, Spears’ 2011 song with the same name has surpassed Timberlake’s new song, thanks to a fan movement.
In October 2023, the Toxic singer released her memoir, The Woman in Me, unveiling some bombshell information about her and Timberlake’s relationship from the early 2000s. Fans did not take Spears’ revelation lightly that she had undergone an abortion because Timberlake didn’t want to be a father.
Justin Timberlake Concerned About Renewed Drama With Britney Spears
New drama ensued between Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears following the release of his new single Selfish. Spears taking the high road praised Timberlake’s new track on her Instagram account. She also issued an apology, though not directly addressing Timberlake, stating (via Rolling Stone):
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry.”
However, Timberlake was in no mood to accept the apology. He took a jab at the Criminal singer during a tour performance in New York on Wednesday. Before performing his number, Cry Me a River, Timberlake made this announcement, “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize… to absolutely fucking nobody.”

Britney Spears apparently did not let the jab slide and slammed him online, without mentioning names. Her Instagram post featured a photo of the moon framed inside a basketball hoop, accompanied by the caption,
“Someone told me someone was talking sh*t about me on the streets!!!” further adding, “Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time??? I’m not sorry!!!”
All this drama has gotten Timberlake riled up, according to an insider source. The source revealed to Page Six that the SexyBack singer was not at all happy that the renewed drama was “overshadowing his new music.” The source also added that he expected the memoir backlash would have blown over by this time. The source shared with Page Six:
“Justin had hoped the backlash [from Spears’ memoir] would’ve blown over by now so that he could focus on his new album, which he’s very excited about, but every day is something new.”
Justin Timberlake’s new album Everything I Thought It Was is set to be released on March 15. Timberlake’s New York jab came after his “no disrespect” disclaimer in Las Vegas in December, leaving fans to wonder what happened to change the Filthy singer’s stance.

Justin Timberlake allegedly ended his relationship with Britney Spears via text message back in 2002, marking a tumultuous turn of events.
