Ryan Gosling is “literally me.” That’s the literal description of the actor’s versatility and popularity. The actor has grown beyond the essential romantic comedy star to a multifaceted actor who can effortlessly play different roles across diverse genres.
However, recently, Vanity Fair made a shocking remark about Gosling’s lack of comedic ventures, which made fans fumed up and share their humorous take on the remark. Vanity Fair’s clear lack of information is evident when they put out a statement saying that Barbie was the first comedic venture of Gosling.
He’s Literally Comedy
Vanity Fair sparked polarizing reactions from the masses as they credited Barbie as the first comedy that Ryan Gosling has been a part of,
“As Ken, Gosling gives real depth to a character who easily could have been a goofy sidekick. What’s most striking about his performance as Ken, though, is that he gets to be funny. Not quirky or rom-com funny, but really funny.”
This was a huge mistake on Vanity Fair’s part as Gosling has appeared in various comedy movies, namely The Nice Guys, Crazy, Stupid Love, and The Big Short. Gosling has been appreciated for their impeccable comedic timing and natural charisma that brings to his role, which was apparent in 2016’s comedy The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe.
The movie wasn’t a huge success; however, over the years, the movie has garnered a cult status, with fans appreciating Gosling’s comedic prowess and Crowe on-screen chemistry. Performances like these are the reasons for fans fuming over Vanity Fair’s false allegations.
Fans Respond to Vanity Fair’s Allegations
Soon after Vanity Fair’s statement, fans took arms at X to express their dismay and clear Gosling’s image from the accusation. Some fans responded by posting clips and gifs of Gosling from Crazy, Stupid Love and The Nice Guys, reminding them that Barbie isn’t the first comedic venture of Gosling.
A user by the handle @thetvfanspace wrote,

” Hire writers who know what they’re talking about or who know how to research their subjects. This is just embarrassing. Ryan Gosling has always been funny.”
X user @Danimalish stated that Gosling’s work in The Nice Guys was superior to Barbie’s.
“Ryan Gosling is predictably great in BARBIE, but his performance as private detective Holland March in THE NICE GUYS is by far my favorite. He’s so loose, charming, and effortlessly funny. The film has like ten of these kinda gags, all hilarious,” he wrote.
He’s More than Just Ken
The Greta Grewig directorial Barbie has recieved wide-spread attention from audiences worldwide and became one of most profitable movie of 2023 reaaching the $1 billion mark. However, this Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling starrer has also met with several controversies.
