WB has yet again found itself facing a multitude of backlash. This time it is the company’s decision to scrap off the already completed Coyote vs Acme, a $70 million movie. The film was supposed to be released this year, after a series of roadblocks, but was yet again blocked when WB decided to release Barbie.
Now it has been reported that after facing severe backlash, the company might give the makers the chance to sell the movie to other distributors. While this news has been welcomed by fans, it has also given hope for Batgirl’s revival, another nearly finished movie that was earlier scrapped by WB.
Warner Bros. Might Give Coyote vs Acme Another Chance After Shelving It
Warner Bros.’ Coyote vs Acme was a hybrid live-action and animated movie starring John Cena. It took over $70 million to complete the movie and was supposed to stream on Max. With James Gunn being its producer and also having some credit for the story, the movie was one of the most anticipated ones by many Looney Tunes fans.
Inspired by a New Yorker short story of 1990, it would have featured an Acme warehouse filled with all kinds of traps to attack the famous Roadrunner. Slated to be released this year in July, it was scrapped when Warner Bros. relaunched its global strategy.
After facing severe backlash and censure from fans, critics, and even from filmmakers and animators from all over the world, it was recently reported by Puck News, that the studio might be willing to give the movie another chance. While the studio itself has not made an official statement, it is being reported that it might be willing to give the makers a chance to sell it to some other distributors.
Coyote vs Acme Revival Ignites Hope For Batgirl
The hybrid movie isn’t the only movie WB has shelved over the past couple of years. Previously the studio had faced a similar situation when it decided to scrap Batgirl, which was apparently almost completed.
After the news that WB may be giving Coyote vs Acme a chance, fans have been calling for a similar strategy for Batgirl, taking social media by storm. Many fans expressed their want to have the movie released and let them be the judge of the movie’s fate (via X).

While fans have been calling for WB to release Batgirl, earlier this year Peter Safran stated that the movie was not releasable and the character would one way or the other make its way into the DC mythos.
