New information on Gotham Knights can give a Boost to the DC game

Some fans may consider the game dead at this point after a not-at-all-successful launching but Warner Games could be focused on not letting this ship going down so easily.

As discovered by some scavenging fans on Steamdb, files for updates are possibly being planned for implementing Warner Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights nine months after the release.

Hyped speculators linked this discovery with past leaks about Batman being playable in the game’s files and are hoping that the update is a DLC story expansion about Bruce’s missions before the game’s events.

Supposing a story DLC, fans are disregarding this expected update to be a much-needed correction after the troubled launching of the game surrounded by critiques of players about its not so well done gameplay mechanics that this patch could at least try to improve on some points.

But considering the more fun and creative possibility for gamers that enjoy Gotham Knights, a story expansion, what other story DLCs could be about taking its four protagonists as reference points?

A Red Hood/Jason Todd-focused storyline could approach the obvious origin story of Joker’s torture of the character and how he transitioned to the vigilante persona or take a brave step into developing unique villains for Jason and his ambiance.

Red Hood, Jason Todd

Red Hood could very well face a wealthy villain that contrasts with his rough upbringing on Gotham’s streets or even a reflection of the poor people that suffer like his past self. For that, villains like Black Mask and Anarky could pull it off.

On the Robin/Tim Drake side, a plot that could be followed as well as the others could be his origin story discovering Bruce and Dick’s identities before everyone else like in the comics, delivering a detective and street-level mystery.

But for villains to be fought, the DLC could be based in a fresh mood bringing a romcom aspect with Stephanie Brown/Spoiler and her father/villain Cluemaster or the recent bisexuality aspect and throwing an intolerant villain, what could be done with obscure and cultist King Snake from the comics.

Batgirl/Barbara Gordon as well as Jason Todd has a traumatic past with the Joker with her bit being a problematic part of the comics saga that is unlikely Warner to follow. Otherwise, Barbara has expertise in the field as Batgirl and behind the screen as Oracle, so the transition from one persona to another could be an explorative plot point if the Oracle phase is deemed as a part of this version of the character.

Batgirl, Barbara Gordon

As well, Batgirl is a very well-connected heroine so an expanded journey focused on her can reach other parallel characters such as the Birds of Prey team, other iterations of the Batgirl mantle, or deep-cut villains related to her like James Gordon Jr.

Also, an opportunity this hypothetical Batgirl DLC could grab is to use the storyline of the canned movie with Leslie Grace and Brendan Fraser and use a teen detective drama with Firefly as an incendiary villain, although, this is another very doubtful possibility considering Warner’s nature.

To finish the quartet of protagonists, Dick Grayson/Nightwing might be the most explored character among the others in the comics having a recently award-winning run and his own modest rogue’s gallery, distancing more and more from his origin story if needed, so it’s hard to pinpoint an exact story a DLC for him could be about.

Among this and any other possibilities, DC Comics and the characters of the game have an insane amount of source material that the developers could pull from for this future DLC, even if it isn’t these four characters, the Batfamily has a big roster of potential protagonists waiting to be played.
