Batman Beyond is one of the most famous tales of the night crusader in the entire DC mythos. Ever since it first appeared on the small screen in 1999, it has become a staple of DC fans who have been desperate to witness the magic once again possibly on the big screen.
After several rumors, speculations, and reports of a film based on Batman Beyond being in the works, there has been no certain news. However, as per the latest revelation by Spider Verse‘s visual development artist, there were talks of such a film and the artist even posted concept art for it. And DC fans have been crying about it, stating how the studio missed a golden opportunity for its own Spider-Verse-like feature.
Spider-Verse’s Visual Artist Wants To Create A Batman Beyond Movie
Despite years of being put off, canceled, rumored, and speculated (see Cinema Blend and The Direct) a Batman Beyond film had never turned into a reality even though it remains the top animated show and favorite storyline of countless DC fans. Even now as fans continue to hope for such a film, there has been no update so far.
However, DC fans were recently left surprised when My Dad the Bounty Hunter co-creator Patrick Harpin and the visual development artist for the animated Spider-Verse films, Yuhki Demers revealed they have been pitching an animated Batman Beyond film for quite some time now to Warner Bros.
In an Instagram post, the duo stated,
“5 months ago we walked into @wbpictures@DCofficial and pitched a 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 Animated Feature. Before we pitched, they warned us ‘There is absolutely no way we can do a 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 movie’, but they loved our enthusiasm. We pitched the outline for the entire film, and what started as a ‘never’ turned into a ‘maybe’. In the time since, we’ve been pitching our way up the company hoping to get to @jamesgunn. But for now, here’s a taste of what we’ve been cooking.”
Attaching three images from their concept art for the animated flick, the duo’s earnest efforts have taken the world of social media by storm. And fans have been calling out the studio and Gunn for missing out on such a spectacular opportunity.
Fans Call Out WB for Missing an Amazing Batman Beyond Opportunity
Yukhi Demers shared three images from his concept art photos of his and Patrick Harpin’s Spider-Verse-like Batman Beyond film. Set against a pink-themed background, one picture showed Terry McGinnis being chased by one of his worst enemy, Inque. the second featured the Tomorrow Knight walking by in a dark rainy alley, while the third had him standing beneath a huge version of the emblem on his chest against a bright backdrop of Neo-Gotham buildings.
The photos understandably were well received by the fans, who quickly labeled the concept photos wonderful and stated that WB missed out on the opportunity.
Oh my lord that concept art makes me want the movie so bad!!

It looks so cool. I’d love them to do it and bring back VA Will Friedle. Though, I think they already confirmed they wouldn’t be able to do this movie. Which is such a waste. I NEED more Batman Beyond in my life.

Literally why would anyone ever refuse this? 😭😭

While some fans alleged that they were robbed of what an excellent movie it could have been, others were unable to believe how amazing the concept photos looked despite being raw images. Seeing the fans’ reaction WB should take notes and reconsider the project before they lose what fans have been referring to as a Golden Opportunity!
Batman Beyond can be streamed on Max.
