Cyberpunk 2077 did not launch on par with the expectations that the developers at CD Projekt Red and the gamers had when it came out three years ago. The game was plagued with bugs and PC-breaking technical issues that made a smooth gaming experience almost impossible. The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC and now-live Update 2.0 promise players to revamp the title as it should have been at launch.
The Phantom Liberty DLC will bring a brand-new storyline, and update 2.0 has brought new features and upgrades, improving the game significantly. Alongside all these new things, Cyberpunk 2077 is also on sale on Steam, and this has resulted in a surge in the player count of the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 Sees a Big Boost in Player Numbers
When Cyberpunk 2077 initially launched, the game wasn’t all that CDPR promised, but with time, the developers brought several updates, trying to fix the game. The upcoming DLC and update 2.0 have almost revived the game in the community, and the player numbers have jumped drastically. The game is undergoing changes in almost every aspect, and the players are excited to try it.

Cyberpunk 2077 is seeing great success with the release of update 2.0, and while the game had a mere 20k players for around 3 years, the numbers have now quintupled. There are more than a hundred thousand players in Cyberpunk 2077 right now, and Update 2.0 was launched on September 21st. Also, considering the trend, it will only increase when the Phantom Liberty DLC is launched, likely taking the numbers to hundreds of thousands.
It is to be noted that these numbers are only for Steam, and the game is also available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It is expected that the player numbers on consoles would have also increased, and it is evident that these changes have attracted the gaming community.
Cyberpunk 2077 Goes on Steam Sale
Cyberpunk 2077 is also on sale on Steam for 40 percent off at $35.99, and the Cyberpunk 2077 & Phantom Liberty Bundle is 33 percent off at $60.70. which will attract more players. These prices are under special promotion and are only available until October 1. Phantom Liberty DLC is priced at $30, and if players are looking to get the game, it’s a good price to pay with all that the game brings.
The game’s release was considered a tragedy, and seeing such a huge boost in the player count tells us that the game is getting more interest from gamers. Phantom Liberty DLC is set to launch on September 26, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. While the expansion skips release on PS4 and Xbox One, it won’t affect the game much as most players have already shifted to new-generation consoles.
