Daredevil is one tough superhero. Netflix brought the character to life with breathtaking execution, creating characters that fans are eager to see in the MCU again and again. There were a lot of similarities between the approach taken by Netflix and what Christopher Nolan did with the Dark Knight trilogy.
The Dark Knight trilogy went to great lengths to ground the Batman mythos, something that was echoed in the Netflix series as well. However, in doing so, 2 particular powers of Matt Murdock were jettisoned for the sake of realism. However, with the character finally coming home with Daredevil: Born Again, perhaps it’s time to bring these powers back as well.
Daredevil is immune to fear of toxins and magic
One of the epithets that are used for The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is the Man Without Fear. This does not mean that he cannot feel fear, just that he acknowledges it when it crops up, and embraces it. This is the iteration that has been used to depict Daredevil, especially in the wake of the Netflix series. However, Matt’s powers make him immune to anything that tries to force fear into his mind, be it by employing fear toxins or magic.
If this power is restored in Daredevil: Born Again, Matt would find himself more in league with the likes of Moon Knight. Given that Marvel seems to be planning a fresh plot for its street-level heroes (be it Spider-Man, Daredevil, or Moon Knight), giving Matt this power would not only give him a leg up but make him more intimidating as a hero and a vigilante, distinguishing him from Batman further.
Matthew Murdock also had minor telepathic capabilities
Stick trained Matt to fight even without his sight. The character has honed all his senses to be effective in combat, but that is not all that Stick thought the vigilante. Given the slew of powerful telepaths in the Marvel Universe, Murdock is more susceptible to them than your average human being. Given how sensitive his senses are, even a hint of telepathic intrusion could be devastating for the vigilante.
Stick, when training Matt at the Chaste, embued him with resistance to telepathy, while also training him to communicate with those who have telepathy. Given that the X-Men are making their debut in the MCU too, a slew of telepaths could be making their way to the mainline MCU. Daredevil with minor telepathic resistance could make a lot of street-level thugs nervous, adding to the supernatural factor of the otherwise gritty and gutsy character. Matt’s senses already make him seem omniscient when it comes to what his enemies are thinking, imagine the fear it would induce if he had any form of telepathy.
