Charlie Cox has been winning the hype of fans worldwide for years ever since he picked up the mantle of Daredevil back in 2015 for three spectacular seasons of Netflix’s Daredevil. And now, with his upcoming highly-awaited series Daredevil: Born Again, fans are hoping to see more adventures of Matt Murdock in a darker tone that would perfectly suit the theme of the character.
Perhaps, this dream of fans just might be on its way to coming true, considering how recent reports state that Marvel has gotten Netflix’s Daredevil spin-off The Punisher‘s executive producer on board as one of the new showrunners of the upcoming Disney+ series, which only points at one thing: more mature and violent content.
Daredevil: Born Again To Be Darker With The Punisher‘s EP On Board?
Previously, fans were only half-heartedly hoping for more mature themes in the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again due to Disney being renowned for providing ‘family-friendly content’. However, that just might change now considering how Marvel executives have decided to take a different route for the show.
Not only this but the onboarding of Dario Scardapane, the executive producer of superhit The Punisher series, for the post of the new showrunner for the Disney+ series, has further increased fans’ hope in a better and darker show.
This is because Netflix’s Daredevil spin-off The Punisher was not only dark, but it also showed themes that were more gory and mature than ever. Furthermore, the series didn’t shy away from creating content that could give years’ worth of psychological and emotional trauma to the audience.
What’s more is that Daredevil: Born Again will also reportedly be the first real R-rated test series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This further confirms just how gruesome and violent the upcoming series can be expected to be.
While Charlie Cox will be reprising his role of The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, the much-awaited show will also see Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Kingpin aka Wilson Fisk, and Jon Bernthal picking up the mantle to once again play The Punisher aka Frank Castle.

Loki Season 2 Directing Duo On Board For Daredevil: Born Again As Well
It seems that with Daredevil: Born Again fans are in for nothing short of a treat, considering how not only The Punisher‘s executive producer has been brought on board but Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, both of whom helmed four episodes of the blockbuster series Loki season 2 and two episodes of Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, have been brought in as co-directors as well.
During a recent interview with TheWrap, the directing duo shared how far they have gone with the project ever since they were recently tapped to take over as the directors for helming the remaining production of season one, which was abruptly stopped due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. They said:
“We’re currently just consuming Daredevil content, not just the Netflix show but all the possible material. We’re just making our stew of information nice and thick.”
Considering these new updates and the masterpiece that Loki season 2 was, the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again will be nothing short of the perfect combination of adventure, thrill, and mature and gruesome stuff that fans have been asking and yearning to see with The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
