God of War is a franchise that hasn’t skipped a conversation when the community talks about some of the most successful games in history. In fact, the latest free DLC for God of War Ragnarök allows players to take in a new perspective. This has revealed speculation around the casting and writing of the new show to be premiered on Amazon Prime Video.
Beloved by fans, Christopher Judge’s Kratos has remained iconic ever since the game first dropped in 2018. However, the man himself has an opinion or two about the casting for Kratos when it comes to the TV Show.
In a tweet, Christopher Judge voices his opinion about potential casting
Recently, it was revealed that Amazon and Sony are working in hopes of bringing out a God of War show as a streaming series. However, there’s little info about who all are being cast for the same. In light of this, Christopher Judge seems a little despondent about Dave Bautista playing the part of Kratos.
Dave is popularly known for playing the simple yet lovable Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. While he clearly has the looks for it, it seems that Christopher Judge isn’t too sold on him taking up the role. Why is that? Well, the tweet leaves us in a space for further conversations. Clearly, the comment sections seem to agree with him for most parts.
Whether or not Dave Bautista will play Kratos is yet to be known. In the meantime, Christopher Judge’s opinion does make a big impact on how the community perceives new changes when it comes to casting. It’s also no secret that Judge has himself campaigned to take the role in live action, and this tweet could certainly be interpreted as such.
The God of War show will try to do justice to the game’s roots
While the live-action show is still in the early stages of production, the producers have spoken about the faithfulness to source material. Christopher Judge has played the part of Kratos that has matured through the ages, but there’s an entire history to Kratos that will need the most accurate casting to get right. This one’s a bit tricky since this character has lived through different timeframes of history, and even distinct realms altogether.
The narrative takes its viewers into the origins of Kratos going against fellow Gods and may tell stories of his younger self. Regardless, the news of this show becoming reality has hyped up the community, for all the right reasons. It is yet to be known who exactly will play the different roles in the games, but we can surely expect to hear something officially from Amazon or Sony soon.
