David Beckham is an icon that you can expect to have a hyper-organized closet. With everything meticulously placed where it should be and thoroughly sorted into its proper places, Beckham’s closet tour in the recent Netflix docu-series Beckham (2023) has left a lot of viewers reeling about the former football star’s new obsession.
An international icon, Beckham’s sense of fashion is sought after by a lot of his admirers, given that he is married to fashion designer extraordinaire, Victoria Beckham. However, according to a recent documentary, it has come to light that Beckham’s signature style takes a lot more planning than one might have thought.
David Beckham’s recent Netflix docu-series is an eye-opener
The docu-series about Beckham boasts itself as a deep dive into the life of the football player, which it looks at with great detail, revealing several key aspects of the ex-Manchester United player. One of the things that Beckham has opened up about in the documentary, is his OCD.
Beckham went to great lengths to talk about how he keeps his room and home clean throughout the documentary. Going through his closet, Beckham points out the various things that he has in his wardrobe, in the order in which they are arranged:
“..shirts, jean shirts, jumpers, cardis to T-shirts.And then suits.”
While touring his closet, Beckham took a step back, examining the shelve that holds all his trousers. He then promptly remarked:
“Someone’s been in here”
The FIFA Qatar’22 ambassador has publically acknowledged his OCD multiple times. There is no doubt that because of this particular trait of his, he makes sure his environment is spotless. However, his obsession does not simply start and end with how things are arranged in his kitchen or his closet or how clean his room is. Beckham, plans out his outfits, the extent of which might shock some viewers.
David Beckham plans out his outfits a week in advance
Beckham while touring his closet, noticed something wrong with his trouser cabinet. He then went on to reveal his outfits for the next week, all selected and neatly arranged on a hanger stand, ready to go. When asked to explain what he meant, the star, said, rubbing the back of his neck,
“So those are the outfits for the rest of the week. I prep my week. It used to be just the night before.”
Keeping up with Beckham’s style requires a specific kind of sophistication and routine to keep up with. However, planning out what they are going to wear for the entire week can be a tad excessive when figuring out a sense of style. It is fascinating how much Beckham prepares to keep this “new obsession” going. While prepping the night before is something most of us do, having the entire week planned out, fashion-wise, might bore some people, while allowing others to go through the week with some peace of mind. David Beckham certainly belongs to the latter group of people.
