Aquaman 2 Could Feature Black Manta Abducting the Titular Character’s Son

Is Aquaman 2 the Last Movie in the DCEU?

With James Gunn taking over the role of co-CEO in 2022, the DC Extender Universe recently received a soft reboot after the failure of recent movies under the banner of the studio. The studio will now be known as DC Universe or DCU.

Since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was already planned before the soft reboot, it essentially serves as the last movie in the DCEU. James Gunn has already confirmed that Blue Beetle will be the first character of the new DC.

In addition, Superman: Legacy will be the first film in the revamped DC Universe. While Gunn is yet to share an official statement about Aquaman 2‘s alliance, it’s safe to assume that the film falls in the earlier version of DC.

Either way, it doesn’t matter if the movie is in DCEU or DCU, if it receives positive reviews from fans, something which has become a rare sight for recent movies under the studio’s banner.

Can Aquaman and the Last Kingdom will put an end to that streak? Well, we will find out once the movie is out in theaters.
