Hollywood star Josh Brolin has shared some cryptic details surrounding his potential return in the highly anticipated film Deadpool & Wolverine. The threequel in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool film series is set to introduce the antihero into the vast Marvel Cinematic Universe and is expected to feature a number of cameos, including Jennifer Garner’s Elektra along with characters like Professor X, Storm, and Cyclops.
Brolin, who portrayed the antagonist Cable in the 2018 sequel is also expected to reprise his role. There are also speculations that he could potentially return as the MCU villain Thanos in the upcoming threequel. And when asked about his potential return in the upcoming film, the actor offered enigmatic responses, adding to the intrigue surrounding his involvement.
Josh Brolin’s Response About His Potential Return in Deadpool & Wolverine
During his recent appearance on Good Morning America, Josh Brolin talked about his potential return as Cable in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s highly anticipated film Deadpool & Wolverine. Brolin took on the role of Cable in the Deadpool sequel, a cybernetic soldier, who travels back in time to kill Russell.
When asked if fans would be seeing him in the upcoming threequel, the 56-year-old actor said, “Sure,” before quickly adding, “I don’t know…I’ll check with my bookkeeper.” Stumbling on his words, the Dune star further shared that he can’t say anything.
Adding to the ambiguity, he said, “I’m in every movie coming out in the next year—small parts but you know I don’t know.” Although the actor couldn’t state clearly if he’s reprising his role as Cable in the upcoming threequel, Brolin did assure that Deadpool & Wolverine would be a good movie.
This is not the first time, the actor has shared some cryptic insights into his potential return in the upcoming threequel. When asked about the same in an earlier interview with Collider, Brolin responded, “No. I don’t know. Because Ryan [Reynolds] doesn’t like me?” before adding, “I don’t know… Maybe.”
While many fans are speculating about the character’s return, his notable absence in the film’s official trailer left many assuming that Josh Brolin might not reprise his role in the upcoming threequel.
Characters Expected to Appear in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3
Following Deadpool’s multiversal adventure with Wolverine, the upcoming film is expected to feature multiple characters, including returning characters like Colossus and Vanessa among some new characters along with highly anticipated cameos.
The trailer of the film has already hinted at several characters, including Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova and Aaron Standford’s Pyro. However, there are also those who are rumored to appear in the film, such as Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto among the X-Men cast, and Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius with the notable presence of TVA in the film.
Reports have also suggested that Jennifer Garner, who took on the role of the Marvel assassin Elektra in Ben Affleck’s 2003 film Daredevil and later starred in a solo film in 2005, could potentially reprise her role in the threequel. Garner has worked with Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds in the sci-fi film The Adam Project. The studio, however, has not confirmed the claim.
