However, the tweet included a poster for the film, featuring lead actor Prabhas, with Chris Evans and Josh Brolin‘s Captain America and Thanos featuring in the distance.

Movie buffs quickly realized that the poster’s background was lifted from a scene in Avengers: Endgame. As a result, users started trolling the film for blatantly copying a Hollywood movie, and here is what some of them said on X.

On the surface, it seemed like a major blunder from the marketing team of Kalki 2898 AD to release a poster that features a scene from Avengers: Endgame in the background. However, after the poster was brutally trolled online, user @GetsCinema had to come in defense of the film and clarify the situation.

@GetsCinema revealed in a tweet that the poster they initially shared was fan-made and not actually from the film’s marketing team. The user also shared the authentic poster for the movie which does not feature Captain America and Thanos in the background, proving that the trolling was unfair and a result of a fan poster.

Kalki 2898 AD is being directed by Nag Ashwin and will be set in a post-apocalyptic world, heavily inspired by Indian mythology. The film stars Prabhas in the titular role alongside some of the biggest faces from the Indian film industry including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone. Kalki 2898 AD is currently slated to release on May 9, 2024.
