According to reports, another actor was also set to take the mantle of the fan-favorite X-Men character in Deadpool 3.
While most fans considered the Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe to appear in the upcoming Deadpool sequel as Wolverine, it has been recently revealed that Radcliffe isn’t the one. According to a scooper account on X, Dafne Keen’s X-23 aka Laura is reportedly cast in Deadpool 3, alongside Hugh Jackman. Previously appearing as the biological daughter of Wolverine in 2017 Logan, Keen is said to reprise her role in Deadpool 3.
Hugh Jackman Isn’t the Only Wolverine in Deadpool 3
In the first two Deadpool movies, Ryan Reynolds‘ Wade Wilson had little to do with Professor X’s school of mutants. But with the upcoming sequel planning on merging with MCU, the studio brought Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the scene. Set to appear as the fan-favorite X-Men character in Reynolds’ Deadpool 3, it has been reported that Jackman isn’t going to be the only Wolverine in the movie.
With Marvel bringing several X-Men characters into the upcoming sequel, it has been reported by reputable scooper DanielRPK, that Deadpool 3 will be marking the appearance of more than one Wolverine. While fans expected Daniel Radcliffe to finally appear as the X-Men character, since he was in talks, the scooper account clarified the alleged cast.
Daniel Richtman noted that Dafne Keen will reportedly reprise her role as Laura Kinney, a.k.a X-23, in Deadpool 3. It was reported that the actress had a negotiation with Marvel Studios ahead of the Hollywood strikes to appear in the upcoming movie as Wolverine. Further, Richtman’s report was corroborated by another scooper account Scarlet Witch Updates.

The account revealed that a reported CV confirmed Dafne Keen’s casting in Deadpool 3. It seems, if both the scooper accounts are correct, Keen has seemingly closed a deal to appear in Deadpool 3. The actress’ X-23 role might be little more than a cameo, which might further help in setting an X-23 storyline, which was teased after James Mangold’s Logan in 2017.
Fans Are Begging For an X-23 Storyline After Logan
Previously, Dafne Keen had appeared as Laura Kinney, a.k.a X-23 in Hugh Jackman’s Logan, in 2017. Playing the role of the biological daughter of Jackman’s Wolverine, after she was genetically engineered from his DNA, Laura was introduced as an 11-year-old Mutant in the 2017 sequel. Considering the world in Logan is grim and filled with dark promises, where Mutants were no longer born, but instead bred as weapons, Laura appeared as a welcome sight for fans.
Having her father’s healing factor, retractable claws, and the exact temper that makes her prone to extreme violence, Dafne Keen’s X-23 unfortunately becomes dangerous and marked for disposal by her owners. This leads Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine to save Laura and help her escape. Finally, the storyline of Logan narrates the touching story of found family and legacy, where Logan asks his daughter not to become a monster like him, and Laura vows to be a better person.
Passing the baton to a new generation, Hugh Jackman’s Logan marked the storyline for a direct sequel focusing on Dafne Keen’s X-23. According to reports from Collider it was reported that James Mangold even signed on for the X-23 solo movie, after Logan. And ever since then, fans have been begging to unravel the X-23 storyline. Unfortunately with the Disney-Fox merger process concluding in 2019, X-23 solo movie got canceled.
However, now with the alleged reports of Dafne Keen’s X-23 aka Laura appearing in Deadpool 3, it seems there’s still hope for fans to witness the character.
