Sony held its last State of Play in September 2023 and revealed new games coming for PlayStation. The last event gave players a new look at games like Baby Steps, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and more. Leaks have surfaced suggesting that PlayStation might be planning to hold its State of Play video showcase soon.
The leaks also revealed that players can expect several new game announcements at the event. The rumored titles that could be announced at the State of Play include highly-anticipated games such as Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a new Sonic game, and more.
The Next PlayStation State of Play Is Coming Sooner Than Expected
Almost all the games that PlayStation had announced at State of Play in September 2023 have been released or are close to launch, and the upcoming event could shed light on the next slate of PlayStation 5 games that players can expect to play in 2024. There have been multiple leaks over the past several weeks that Sony is gearing up for a State of Play event soon.
Another rumor has now reiterated the same: the next State of Play is scheduled to livestream on or around January 31, 2024. XboxEra co-founder and reliable leaker Shpeshal_Nick shared a riddle-like post on X/Twitter revealing several games that could be announced at the State of Play. According to Nick, the games that might be announced at the event include Rise of the Ronin, Death Stranding 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, and more.
Moreover, Nick also shared previously unannounced games like a new Sonic game rumored to be the Sonic Generations remaster, a new Metro game, and Ken Levine’s Judas. The credibility of these leaks cannot be confirmed as of now, and it is advised to take this rumor with a pinch of salt until there is an official announcement. However, it is worth mentioning that Nick has accurately leaked the previous State of Play showcase.
Earlier last year, it was reported that a new Metro game was in development and was in a playable state, but there have been no new updates on it since then. The sci-fi first-person shooter title Judas from Ken Levine was announced at The Game Awards 2022 and got a release window in 2023, revealing that the game could release sometime between 2023 and March 2025, and it seems like a proper release date might be announced at the upcoming showcase.
Additionally, rumors surfaced last week that more information on Death Stranding 2 was coming, and the game is reportedly titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The details on Silent Hill 2 are said to be coming at the showcase after it was revealed by the series director that new information would be provided in the new year. If this slate is correct, players will have much to look forward to at the State of Play.
Although Sony has not yet announced a date for the upcoming showcase, fans are excited about it and have been speculating what more could be coming to the showcase.
