The stars of the MCU are always the ones who are revered as some of the best action stars in modern times considering just how many action and stunt sequences they have to perform with or without the use of CGI. Amongst them, Jeremy Renner is one of the few stars who is known for doing most of his own stunts without the use of a stunt double.

Therefore, there is that constant threat upon him of the possibility that he can get severely injured on the sets. But surprisingly, throughout the course of his tenure at Marvel Studios, he was never once majorly injured. But more surprisingly, he did get severely injured once on set, and it was in a completely unexpected film.

Most popular for playing the role of Agent Clint Barton, a.k.a Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeremy Renner has been through his fair share of difficult times, especially while shooting stunt sequences that can hurt him very badly. But never once while shooting any of these films did he face anything that serious, neither in Marvel Studios nor anywhere else. When he did get injured on set though, it was very bad, and the film in conversation was quite unexpected, to say the least.

While shooting on the sets of his then-upcoming comedy film Tag, the star was readying himself for a very risky stunt sequence that required him to stand atop a mountain of chairs and tables stacked on top of each other. This was dangerous for the obvious reason that the contraption could fall over, but safety harnesses were placed on the structure. Unfortunately, the harness broke, and the chairs along with The Bourne Legacy star came crashing down.

In the process of falling down, Renner broke both of his arms upon his impact with the floor. But still, he redid the entire sequence once more without complaining and executed it perfectly. From this point on, his hands were put in casts, which were later removed through CGI until the film wrapped up production. Just goes to show how tough the star is, with a superhero costume or without one.

While the film may be a comedy, it doesn’t shy away from guiding the sentiments of its viewers into emotional territory. Tag follows the story of a group of school friends who have locked themselves in a perpetual game of tag and play it even when they become adults. Among them, there is a friend of theirs who no one was ever able to defeat in their lives. But when that same friend is about to get married, they make a plan to do the impossible before he finally settles down.
